Using Roughly

Terms of service

Last updated: 7 October 2026

These terms apply when you create an account or use Roughly. Roughly is a United Kingdom-based service. By using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy notice.

What Roughly provides

Roughly is a supportive food-tracking service that provides approximate meal estimates, progress indicators and general AI-generated feedback. Features may be tested, improved, replaced or withdrawn as the service develops.

Important: Roughly is not a medical device and does not provide medical, diagnostic or professional dietary advice. Calorie and nutrition figures are estimates and may be wrong. Do not use Roughly for urgent decisions or to manage a medical condition without appropriate professional advice.

Optional GLP-1 and pregnancy coaching context

You may choose to share GLP-1 status, pregnancy status, an optional due date and brief coaching notes, with separate explicit consent. These settings personalise general daily and weekly habit feedback only. They do not turn Roughly into a medical device, pregnancy-care service, medication-management tool or professional dietary service.

GLP-1 use does not automatically justify a very low calorie target. Roughly focuses on adequate nourishment, food variety and sustainable routines during use or after stopping. It does not advise on drug choice, dose, titration, tapering or stopping. Follow your prescriber’s advice.

Pregnancy coaching prioritises nourishment and sensitive, practical support. It does not prescribe calorie deficits, weight-loss or pre-pregnancy weight-maintenance goals, pregnancy nutrition targets or exercise targets. Cravings or morning sickness are considered when you report them; they are not assumed. A due date provides approximate timing only and is not used to infer a birth or health outcome.

Tracker calorie goals, weight projections and scores are general estimates and must not be used to judge nutrition adequacy or appropriate weight change during pregnancy. AI feedback uses submitted and collected data for general food, activity and tracking habits only. It does not assess symptoms, interpret medication safety, diagnose conditions or recommend treatment. Medical questions are outside Roughly's scope and belong with a qualified healthcare professional.

You can remove optional health settings by unchecking consent and saving. Existing saved feedback and any information you separately entered in diary records are not automatically erased. See the privacy notice for choices and deletion requests.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 to use Roughly. You must provide accurate account information, keep your login secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

Your food information and photographs

You retain ownership of information and photographs you submit. You give Roughly permission to host, process and transmit that material only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service and provide the features you request. You must have the right to upload the material and must not upload unlawful, harmful or third-party confidential content.

Subscriptions and free trials

Paid plans are billed by Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. Where a seven-day free trial is offered, the payment method provided at checkout will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before that time. Trials are normally limited to one per person and may not be combined with some promotions.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel through Roughly’s Manage subscription option or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access until then. Any statutory cancellation or refund rights remain unaffected.

Promotion codes

Promotion and voucher codes may have eligibility, duration and redemption limits. They have no cash value, may not be resold and may be withdrawn where used fraudulently or contrary to their stated conditions.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse Roughly, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, bypass subscription controls, upload malicious material, use automated access that places an unreasonable load on the service, or use the service for unlawful purposes.

If you use the tester community, do not post abusive, discriminatory, unlawful, misleading or confidential material, or another person’s personal or health information. Community handles and posts are visible to other eligible testers. Roughly may remove posts or community access where needed for safety, moderation or misuse prevention.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Roughly available, but uninterrupted or error-free service is not guaranteed. We may suspend access for maintenance, security, suspected misuse or circumstances outside our reasonable control. If a material change adversely affects a paid service, we will provide reasonable notice where practical.

Intellectual property

Roughly’s name, branding, interface, software, calculation methods and original content belong to Roughly or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, limited and non-transferable right to use the service; they do not transfer ownership of Roughly’s intellectual property.

Responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, or affects your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, Roughly is not responsible for decisions made in reliance on approximate estimates, user-entered information, third-party services, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms.

Ending your account

You may stop using Roughly and request account deletion. We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breach of these terms, security risk or unlawful use. Ending an account does not automatically cancel amounts already due or remove records we must retain by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you retain any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring proceedings available where you live.
